I Am Black Business (IABB) is based out of Atlanta, GA and was founded by three Brothers, including Vice-President & COO Lee Lewis (pictured). Lee and I immediately hit it off from our very first conversation. Our mutual desire to expose our community to Black-owned business was the binding factor. Lee and I have since had several conversations including creating some joint ventures in order to further advance disseminating the information out to our people. It is important that we begin to align ourselves with people who are willing to join forces on a mutually beneficial level.
I Am Black Business is an online directory of Black-owned businesses. What makes IABB different - and subsequently is the foundation of our joint venture - is the focus on assuring that the businesses listed on the platform are vetted as at least 51% Black-owned. IABB also has a mobile app to make it easier for you to find a business in your area!
SpokeHub is based out of Durham, NC and was co-founded by Richard Berryman III (along with 4 others). When you look at SpokeHub's website, you will see the vast team that puts this all together. Berryman was actually introduced to me by one of my friends who knows him personally.
SpokeHub's platform is centered around allowing its users to have meaningful conversations with like-minded individuals. They are looking to build an actual community rather than just having people get a bunch of likes. Check out their website, or the recent article on Forbes.com, to learn more about SpokeHub.
SAFETRIP was launched by opera singer Ja'Nese Jean as a different kind of rideshare app. What makes SAFETRIP unique is that it is specifically made for people with health problems and disabilities. It is the only rideshare app with wheelchair accessible vehicles and will accept insurance as payment!
Because of the nature of their riders, SAFETRIP drivers go through more training than the traditional Uber or Lyft driver. They also make it so that current caregivers can sign up and get paid for scheduled appointments! This is an awesome niche to serve; kudos to you Ja'Nese Jean!
I've never had a problem exercising...that is until I got older. Either I didn't seem to have the time or I just wasn't satisfied that my body didn't change as fast as it did when I was younger. You know how that it is! So when I saw the Sworkit app on Shark Tank, I decided to give it another try.
The app allows you to basically have a personal trainer at your fingertips. What I really liked is that you could customize your workout to the amount of time that you have. So as an entrepreneur, you may have 30 minutes today but only 10 minutes tomorrow.
With over 25 million people using the app, they gotta be doing something right!
