Naturalicious was founded by Gwen Jimmere and is based out of Detroit, MI. Gwen is originally from Cleveland and is the first Black woman to hold a patent for a natural hair care product! When she launched her company, she was on the verge of homelessness as a divorced mother of a 2-year old.

Naturalicious is a 3-step process that gets rave reviews from users for reducing the overall amount of product they have to buy. This phenomenal product can be ordered online or found in retailers nationwide, namely Sally Beauty Supply stores!

Jamyla Bennu is the CEO of Oyin Handmade which is a Baltimore, MD company that she created. This successful entrepreneur is still a wife and mother at heart. Her husband Pierre and two sons keep her grounded while juggling the demands of her company.

Oyin is the Yoruba word for honey which Bennu has found to be an amazing ingredient in natural skin and hair care. The long list of products include lotion, conditioner, deodorant, shampoo and more. If the name Oyin Handmade sounds familiar, it's probably because you've seen the products in your bathroom or your local beauty supply store or Target or CVS or ... you get the picture!

Briogeo is based out of New York and was founded by Nancy Twine. You probably wouldn't think that a career in finance would lead to starting a hair care line but that's the path Nancy took. Briogeo was launched during Twine's 7-year stint at Goldman Sachs.

Next Level Hair

Yes you read that right...Next Level Hair sells hair extensions! I have heard many of my Sisters complain about how Asians are cornering the market on "our" hair. So when I met the owner Bright Ehima recently, I was impressed with his business model. He shared that he loves to partner with stylists and salon owners to offer his products to consumers. It is a great way to get his product out while providing stylists with an additional revenue source.

So ladies, the next time you're spending a Saturday at the salon, put your stylist in touch with Next Level Hair so that we can keep more of our dollars circulating within our community!

Bevel

By now you may be familiar with Bevel shave products and its owner Tristan Walker. Having personally made the switch a couple years ago, I couldn't be happier with the products! Another positive for me is accessibility. Bevel products are available at Target; just make sure to go to a Target that serves our community (you know what I'm talking about). Bevel also has a trimmer for all you professional and amateur barbers out there.

Tristan's parent company, Walker and Company, has also recently released a line of haircare (FORM Beauty) that can be found in select Sephora stores. We all know somebody that shaves and us black people love our hair so go ahead and start spending those dollars with one of our own!
